The Autauga County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office in Florida about a suspect who had a grand theft warrant and was a suspect in a murder, said Sheriff Mark Harrell. Tampa is in Manatee County.

Local sheriff’s deputies took Mohamed Ouertani in custody and is holding him for Florida officials, Autauga Metro Jail records show. Extradition to Manatee County Florida is pending, Harrell said. Local deputies then conducted a search of the restaurant to see if there was any evidence related to the Florida cases.

The public was never in danger, and the restaurant owner was not involved in this case, the sheriff said.
