Former Cornelius officer sentenced for sexual misconduct of minors as lawsuits loom

ROCK HILL, S.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A former Cornelius Police officer has been sentenced to nine years in prison after pleading guilty to several charges in connection to sexual misconduct with minors, according to the York County clerk’s office.

Court officials confirm with Queen City News former police officer Erickson Lee pleaded guilty in court on Friday, Sept. 6, to several charges including:

  • Obscene/Unlawful to disseminate obscene material to a person under 18 years of age

  • Contributing to the delinquency of a minor

  • Sex/Criminal sexual conduct with a minor or attempt – victim under 16 years of age

  • First-degree assault and battery

The crimes occurred in July 2022.

Court documents said the crimes involved then-27-year-old Lee at his home in Fort Mill. They said Lee was the 17-year-old victim’s adult youth pastor at the time.

Lee was accused of willfully playing pornographic videos at his home in front of the teen. Documents said he injured the victim through non-consensual touching.

Lee was also accused of criminal sexual conduct with a child under 16 years old. Due to the complaints from the victims’ parents – Lee was arrested by the York County Sheriff’s Office last year in May. Just last week, he pleaded guilty to a host of charges.

On Friday, Sept. 13, attorneys for the young victims announced multiple lawsuits against Lee as well as MorningStar Fellowship Church and its founders.

Attorneys alleged multiple instances of sexual assault that occurred before the current series of events that were never reported to law enforcement and supposedly handled in-house.

A news conference on this is set for Monday morning. Queen City News will be in attendance and we’ll have the latest updates in this case.
