Former President Bill Clinton makes stop in Erie, endorses Harris/Walz campaign

The 42nd president of the United States made an appearance in Erie after canceling a visit earlier this week.

The Harris/Walz campaign brought big names in the final weekend before Election Day.

“For my grandchildren and your kids or the kids you hope to have or the grandchildren you already have, you need to vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz,” said former President Bill Clinton.

Just days before the election, former President Bill Clinton made a stop in Erie.

Clinton’s appearance is a final push from the Harris/Walz campaign within this bellwether county.

Dozens of supporters lined 11th Street to enter Lavery Brewing Company hours before he took the stage to hear what the politician had to say.

The two-term president spoke for 20 minutes expressing how this upcoming election is about “today and tomorrow.”

He believes the cost of living is America’s main concern and highlights the campaign’s plan to lower it.

Clinton then talked about how he knows both candidates, but only one is fit for the job.

“I had cordial relationships with Donald Trump for over 15 years,” said Clinton. “He is a genius, however, at bragging, blaming and making you feel like somebody’s sticking it to you. Never take responsibility, deny everything and always accuse other people of doing what you’re doing and he turned out to be a genius at it.”

One of the warm-up speakers said with the election so close, now is not the time to relax, but to increase the energy to ensure Harris wins.

“Knock on doors and talk to their friends and neighbors about the stakes in this election,” said Krista Perry, a speaker. “Everybody needs to go out and vote. Show up and vote. This is going to be a history-making election and you want to be a part of it.”

Other speakers included the owner of Learning Ladder Daycare Kenya Johnson, farmer Dan Gorley and a special appearance from United States Senator John Fetterman.

“The path to the White House comes right through this county and it’s a special special relationship and responsibility,” said Senator John Fetterman.

“The next happiest thing is to know you did everything you could. Do not wake up with regrets Wednesday morning. Go get’em, thank you,” said Clinton.
