Foul play suspected in disappearance of Kansas man, 36, authorities say

Authorities suspect foul play in the disappearance of a Kansas man who was last seen on the night of July Fourth.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation and the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office are looking for 36-year-old Camoran M. Shoptese of Blue Rapids, Kansas, the KBI said.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office requested help from the KBI on Saturday after they received reports from family and a significant other concerned for his well being, KBI spokesperson Melissa Underwood said.

Shoptese was last seen on 10:30 a.m. at 709 Chestnut St. in Blue Rapids, according to the KBI.

A Native American male, he is 6 feet, in inch tall and weighs about 200 pounds.

“Shoptese has short black hair, brown eyes, and black tattoos covering his neck and chest,” a KBI news release read.

Investigators suspect foul play and a 2008 black Chevy Colorado involved in the man’s disappearance. Underwood said the truck does not belong to Shoptese.

Anyone with information into Shoptese’s disappearance is encouraged to call the KBI at 1-800-KS-CRIME. Anonymous tips can be submitted online at https://www.kbi.ks.gov/sar.

“Rural property owners in the area are also asked to check for and report any suspicious activity they might notice on their land,” the release said.

Blue Rapids is a city of 928 people in Marshall County roughly under a three hour drive north of Wichita.
