Fourth Jacksonville suspect is taken into custody in Julio Foolio's death; one to go

Overnight the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Marshals Service tracked down and arrested a fourth suspect in high-profile rapper Julio Foolio's June 23 ambush shooting death at a Tamapa hotel.

The Sheriff's Office posted video Tuesday morning on its X social media account of the SWAT standoff and arrest of 30-year-old Rashad Treyvionne Murphy at the Collins Preserve apartments off Collins Road and Interstate 295. He becomes the fourth of five suspects arrested in the gang warfare hit of Charles Andrew Jones II, whose stage name was Julio Foolio.

Officers could be seen at the complex just after midnight for several hours with multiple units and apparatus. They also fired what appeared to be tear gas into a window of an apartment.

Rashad Murphy is taken into custody early Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at an apartment complex off Collins Road and Interstate 295 in Jacksonville. He is the fourth suspected arrested in the shooting death of rapper Julio Foolio in Tampa.

It follows Monday's news conference by Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters, Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw and Hillsborough County State Attorney Suzy Lopez announcing Saturday's arrests in Jacksonville of Sean Andre Gathright, 18, Isaiah Jermaine Chance, 21, and Alicia Latoya Andrews, 21. They said warrants were out for Murphy and Davion Vershard Murphy, 27, but did not say if they were siblings or otherwise related.

All are charged with first-degree premeditated murder with a firearm and conspiracy to commit first-degree premeditated murder with a firearm, Bercaw said.

Jones had been positing where he was celebrating his 26th birthday in Tampa and was being followed by his attackers, Bercaw said. He showed video of three of them who had parked nearby and then ambushed Jones in the parking lot of a Holiday Inn across from the University of South Florida. He was the front-seat passenger in a car trying to get away. Multiple shots were fired, and three others were wounded.

Detectives used footage from the scene, license plate readers and phone records to identify two vehicles and link them to the suspects, Bercaw said. He identified them as being affiliated with the ATK and 1200, rival gangs of Jones who was part of 6 Block and also linked with another gang KTA.

He said their intentions were clear and it is believed that the ATK and 1200 worked together to target Jones as part of an ongoing feud in Jacksonville.

"These individuals have chosen lives of urban terrorism, and with their arrests we show Tampa, Jacksonville and the rest of Florida, the rest of his state, that we hold violent criminals accountable," Waters said at Monday's news briefing. "At the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office we will always work together with our law enforcement partners to ensure that our communities are free of those who choose violence over peace."

Davion Murphy is still being sought. Anyone with information pertaining to his whereabouts can contact the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office at (904) 630-0500 or via email at JSOCrimetips@jaxsheriff.org.
