Thunderstorms may rain on a few Fourth of July parades Thursday morning. Thunderstorms will arrive mid-morning across central Indiana, according to local meteorologists with the National Weather Service.

Meteorologist Michael Koch said central Indiana could expect storms coming in around 10 a.m., which are expected to last until 1 or 2 p.m.

After this batch of rain, Koch said the region may see more showers, but that they will be more likely south of Interstate 70.

In a social media post Thursday morning, the National Weather Service warned of damaging winds during the thunderstorm. Koch said lightning and torrential rain could cause some localized flooding as well.

While it may be a rainy afternoon, Koch said that conditions should be dry for the most part after 8 p.m.

For folks out celebrating the Fourth of July, Koch said to take precautions with the storms.

"We always tell people, whenever thunder roars, go indoors," Koch said. "If you can hear thunder, you're too close, make sure you take cover."
