Framingham man will be sentenced July 31 for raping and assaulting woman at hotel

WOBURN A Framingham man has been convicted in the 2022 rape of a woman at a local hotel.

A Middlesex Superior Court jury on Tuesday found Lance McDonald, 37, guilty of two counts of rape and one count each of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and a wiretap violation.

He is scheduled to be sentenced on July 31.

Authorities said McDonald arranged to meet the victim, a 42-year-old woman, at about 4 p.m. on April 25, 2022, at the Red Roof Inn on Cochituate Road after he answered an ad for sexual services.

When he arrived, he knocked on the door. When the woman opened the door, McDonald assaulted her. He then raped her, threatened to kill her with a knife and struck her in the head with a coat hanger.

Authorities said he then forced the woman to open a safe in the room and he stole cash that was inside it.

The woman called police and was able to identify McDonald based on photos. A hotel surveillance system also showed McDonald at the hotel.

When police questioned McDonald, they determined he had recorded a video of the rape on his phone, which was done without the victim's consent.

He was arrested that day. He is currently being held at the Middlesex Jail.
