Free Uber vouchers available on July 4

(WHTM) – Police departments across Central Pennsylvania are reminding residents of free Uber vouchers available during the July 4 holiday.

Wilsbach & Stella is helping cover Uber rides for those who “Decide to Ride” during the holiday. Those getting a ride with Uber can get free, three $5 vouchers that are active from 1 a.m. on July 4 until 11:59 p.m. on July 7.

To redeem the promo, riders can scan a QR code or use the promo code Stella4JulyDTR.

Last year during the July 4 holiday Pennsylvania State Police investigated 668 crashes, 59 of which were alcohol related. The year prior State Police investigated 52 alcohol-related crashes during their four day enforcement period.

During their Memorial Day enforcement period earlier this year, State Police investigated 46 alcohol-related crashes including one DUI-related fatal crash.

In the Midstate, State police plan to have increased enforcement with the goal of reducing crashes and injuries. Troopers will also be focusing on drivers who are operating while under the influence, driving aggressively, those who are distracted, and those speeding.
