Fresno man arrested for multiple home invasion robberies, deputies say

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A man from Fresno has been arrested after detectives linked him to two home invasion robberies and burglaries, according to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say on June 7, they responded to a burglar alarm going off near W. Adams and S. Cherry Avenues south of Easton.

Deputies discovered tools, electric bicycles, and other items that had been stolen.

According to deputies, property detectives began an investigation, and through evidence collected, 30-year-old Armando Castro of Fresno was identified as the primary suspect.

As detectives worked to find Castro, a home invasion robbery took place on June 18 near E. Springfield and S. East Avenues.

Deputies say a man armed with a gun forced a 75-year-old woman into a room and ordered her to stay there, threatening to shoot her if she tried to leave. The suspect collected several items around the house and eventually fled with the stolen property.

Deputies say the woman was not injured and detectives collected evidence which pointed to Castro as the suspect.

On June 19, detectives contacted and arrested Castro, who was in possession of some of the stolen items, along with a handgun.

Detectives served a search warrant at Castro’s home and found property stolen from both the burglary and home invasion robbery.

Castro has been booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges of suspicion of burglary, robbery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of stolen property.

Deputies say efforts are underway to return the property to their rightful owners.
