Fasano graduated from Montclair State University, where he earned All-American honors and was inducted into the MSU Hall of Fame in 1999, according to this obituary.

There, he coached, taught, and led students and faculty as the high school principal for 14 years. Under his leadership, BHS received numerous national accolades for its excellence in education and athletics. His passion for the school was encapsulated in his motto, “Every day is a great day to be a Bergenfield Bear.”

Fasano when not working or supporting school activities, enjoyed golfing, spending time at the beach, cheering on his favorite sports teams, and being with his family.

"Throughout his career, he lived and breathed Bergenfield High School and always put his students’ needs first," Superintendent Christopher Tully wrote. "We were fortunate to have such a loving, caring, and dedicated principal leading the learning at our school."
