Girl, 3, dies after being hit by car in Hamtramck, police report

A 3-year-old girl died Tuesday after being hit by a car on Burger Street between Fleming and Mackay, according to Hamtramck police.

Officers responded to the call at about 3:06 p.m., where officers found the girl with her mother.

"Hamtramck Police Officers responded expeditiously and administered immediate medical attention," the department stated in a Facebook post Tuesday evening.

While being transported by EMS to Children's Hospital of Michigan, the child stopped breathing, became unresponsive and died, despite life-saving measures, the department reported.

The driver has not been publicly identified. The incident is under investigation.
