Girl injured in shoulder by gunfire: CPD

CLEVELAND- Cleveland police tell the Fox 8 I-Team they are investigating after a girl was shot in the shoulder Saturday evening. According to police the shooting happened around 9:50 p.m. Saturday.

Cleveland police officers responded to a call for shots fired in the area of East 93rd and Amesbury Avenue. When officers’ arrived they found a large group of people and located a 12-year-old female who was a victim of a gunshot wound to her shoulder area, police said.

“Initial information indicates that the victim was walking in this area with a few other persons, when shots were fired, striking the victim one time,” said Sgt. Wilfredo Diaz, Cleveland police public information officer.

“The victim was transported to the hospital by Cleveland EMS. Officers interviewed multiple people in the area, however no one appears to have seen what occurred.“ No arrests have been made at this time.  Detectives are continuing to investigate.
