Golf cart wiring caused a house fire in Old Lyme

OLD LYME, Conn. (WTNH) – The Old Lyme Fire Department asked people to avoid the White Sands Beach area due to a structure fire Saturday afternoon.

The fire was reported at 4:20 p.m. according to the Old Saybrook Fire Department who responded to a mutual aid call.

The Old Lyme Fire Marshal is reporting that the fire began when someone attempted to hotwire a golf cart near the home.

Neither Old Lyme nor Old Saybrook have stated whether or not anyone was injured in the fire.
