Grand Forks woman, accused of strangling mother with purse strap, pleads guilty to domestic violence

Jul. 23—GRAND FORKS — A Grand Forks woman

accused of attempted murder for strangling her mother with a purse strap

pleaded guilty to a second, lesser crime of domestic violence causing serious bodily injury.

Brianna Lynn Thomas, 20, pleaded guilty to the Class C felony on June 18 was sentenced to three years, first serving 90 days.

Thomas was ordered to complete a chemical dependency evaluation, as well as domestic violence programming and two years of supervised probation.

If she fails to do any of these things, she may be required to serve out the remainder of her sentence.
