Grand Rapids man dead after car accident in Itasca County

Jul. 23—ITASCA COUNTY — A 91-year-old Grand Rapids man has been pronounced dead after a car accident in rural Itasca County on Thursday.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol incident report, on Thursday, July 18, a Dodge Ram pulling a boat was traveling northbound on State Highway 38, and a Buick Century, driven by 91-year-old David Wooden, of Grand Rapids, was traveling westbound on Clearwater Road.

The Buick attempted to turn south on Highway 38 when the vehicles collided, the report said. Wooden was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The driver of the Dodge Ram was not injured. Both drivers were wearing seat belts and alcohol was not a factor.

Responding agencies included the Itasca County Sheriff's Office, the Minnesota Department of Transportation and North Memorial.
