Which grocery chains have the most stores in Phoenix? We have the list

Fry’s Food Store operates the most grocery stores in the Phoenix metro, and stands to grow its footprint as Ohio-based Kroger Co. negotiates an acquisition of the parent company of Albertsons and Safeway stores.

Kroger has said it will sell some of those stores, including 101 in Arizona, to another grocery store operator, C&S Wholesale Grocers, a company that operates Piggly Wiggly supermarkets and other stores.

Following Fry’s on the list is discount store Dollar Tree, which has 90 stores in Maricopa and Pinal counties, according to research done by Chain Store Guide, which collects data and research about retailers.
