Gunfire strikes man watching television in his home, police say
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man was lying in bed watching television when he was shot in his chest, leaving him in critical condition, Memphis Police say.

On Sunday, officers responded to a shooting in the 1700 block of McNair Street in Nutbush. The victim, 52-year-old Carlos Antunez said he was in his bed when he heard gunshots and was struck in his upper right chest.
A neighbor who asked to remain anonymous spoke with WREG and said that it sounded like the gunfire came from an automatic weapon.
“Multiple pops going off at one time,” she said. “It sounded like – almost like a three round burst. Like a pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop.”
Officers rendered aid and found that the bullet was still in Antunez’s body. He was taken to Regional One in critical condition.
A WREG reporter visited the home on Monday, but no one answered. However, they counted more than 20 bullet holes in the front of the house.
The anonymous neighbor said this isn’t the first time bullets have struck the home.
“This is the second time this house has been shot up,” she said. “A drive-by has been done on that house. This is the second time.”
For Antunez’s neighbors, the sight was an unsettling one, especially for one woman who lives nearby.
“I’ve had a drive-by at my house. A bullet actually went through my restroom,” Lourdes Vasquez said. “(It) went through my house.”
Police have not given a motive for the drive-by, which has some in the neighborhood questioning their safety inside their own homes.
“I think that’s concerning because at one moment a bullet can just come through your house and you’re not expecting it,” Vasquez said.
A witness told police she saw the suspects get into a white SUV and flee the scene.
At around 5 a.m. Monday, a security officer told police that a white Infiniti Q50, with four to five juveniles inside, was responsible for the shooting. The car was parked in front of Bald Eagle Drive; police ran the tags and VIN number and found that it was stolen.
