Gurley man and Lacey's Spring woman accused of stealing from Decatur Walmart

Jul. 15—Decatur police arrested a Gurley man and a Lacey's Spring woman accused of attempting to walk out of Walmart with over $1,000 in items they didn't pay for on Saturday, according to a police affidavit filed Monday.

Rodney Malcom Wied, 59, and Crystal Dawn Wilson, 51, are each charged with second-degree retail theft and were booked into Morgan County Jail on Saturday evening to be held in lieu of $2,500 bonds, according to jail records. Wilson was released from jail on Sunday, while Wied remained in jail on Monday afternoon.

Walmart associates observed the couple "concealing items together for an extended period of time," according to the affidavit, before they were stopped attempting to leave with items totaling $1,172.83.

The affidavit doesn't specify which Decatur Walmart the pair allegedly tried to steal from, and Decatur police did not respond to requests for clarification Monday.
