‘I had to protect myself’: Pennsylvania woman accused of trying to kill a man
INDIANA COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — A woman who allegedly told a witness “he beat me for the last time” has been arrested on attempted homicide charges.
Mary Elizabeth Stuller, 60, of Clymer, was arraigned on attempted homicide and aggravated assault charges and placed in Indiana County Prison when her bail was denied.
According to charges filed by state police, they were called to a home on Clarksburg Road in Conemaugh Township Saturday, Aug. 3, when a passerby said they found Stuller bloody in the road. When troopers arrived she was being tended to by EMS. First responders told troopers there was a man inside of the residence with unknown injuries.
Police entered the residence and found the man bloody, with blood pooling under him. According to the criminal complaint, he appeared to have multiple stab wounds. A glass pitcher was seen by his head and a bloody knife next to his body. He was then rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

Through their investigation, troopers said they spoke with the witness who found Stuller. According to their account, Stuller had told them the man had beat her for the last time, and “I had to protect myself.” The bystander also told troopers that Stuller mentioned numerous times that she “didn’t take his drugs,” however, they added she appeared to have white powder around her nose.
After being released from the hospital, police said that Stuller admitted to an altercation between her and the man. According to the complaint, she said she struck him in the head with a glass pitcher multiple times and then began to stab him in the torso. Troopers noted that she told them when he was lying on the floor, gurgling, she just wanted him to die.
Stuller was arrested and placed in jail with bail denied.

Troopers noted in the charges that the man is currently in stable condition, however, he suffered numerous wounds to the bowels, a collapsed lung, a broken jaw, and multiple facial fractures.
