Hawks overcome odds to win No. 1 pick in NBA draft lottery. Which pick did the Kings get?

The Atlanta Hawks overcame long odds to secure the No. 1 pick while the Kings held their expected position in the NBA draft lottery Sunday in Chicago.

Sacramento will have the No. 13 pick in the 2024 NBA draft, which will be held June 26-27. General manager Monte McNair will explore all options with the pick as the Kings look to bolster their roster for another playoff push after bowing out in the play-in tournament this season.

Lottery results were unveiled during a live broadcast on ABC. Kings forward Keegan Murray, the No. 4 pick in the 2022 NBA draft, served as Sacramento’s on-stage representative. Minority owner and executive board member John Kehriotis represented the Kings in the drawing room before the draft order was revealed.

The Kings had a 0.8% chance of securing the No. 1 pick. They had a 0.9% chance of landing in the top two, a 1.0% chance of landing in the top three and a 1.1% chance of landing in the top four.

The Detroit Pistons and Washington Wizards had the best odds of securing the No. 1 pick, each with a 14% chance. They were followed by the Charlotte Hornets (13.3%), Portland Trail Blazers (13.2%), San Antonio Spurs (10.5%), Toronto Raptors (9%), Memphis Grizzlies (7.5%) and Utah Jazz (6%).

Atlanta had a 13.9% chance of landing in the top four but just a 3% chance of securing the No. 1 pick. The Hawks will have the No. 1 pick for the first time since 1975.

The Wizards will have the No. 2 pick followed by the Houston Rockets at No. 3, Spurs at No. 4 and Pistons at No. 5. The Hornets will have the No. 6 pick ahead of the Blazers at No. 7, Spurs (via Toronto) at No. 8, Grizzlies at No. 9 and Jazz at No. 10.

The Chicago Bulls will have the No. 11 pick followed by the Oklahoma City Thunder (via Houston) at No. 12, Kings at No. 13 and Golden State Warriors at No. 14.
