Hazelwood man accused of shooting at passing car

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A Hazelwood man is in custody for allegedly shooting at a passing vehicle last month.

According to the Florissant Police Department’s probable cause statement, the shooting happened on March 21.

The victim told police he had just backed his car from his driveway when he noticed a white Lexus following closely.

The victim eventually pulled to the side of the road to allow the Lexus to pass.

The Lexus went past the victim but then stopped in front of his vehicle.

The victim attempted to pull around the Lexus. When he did, the driver of the Lexus got out of the car with a gun and started shooting.

The victim’s car was struck several times. Police recovered 10 .45-caliber shell casings from the scene.

No injuries were reported.

Flock cameras were used to identify and track the Lexus to its owner, Travis Garner. Police took Garner into custody and claim he admitted to the shooting. Garner said the gun used in the shooting was gone.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Garner with first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, and two counts of armed criminal action. He’ll remain jailed on a $75,000 cash-only bond. He’s due in court this week for a bond reduction hearing.
