Hazmat situation forces Coolidge residents to evacuate
Some Coolidge residents were asked to evacuate their homes on Tuesday afternoon due to a hazardous materials situation, the Pinal County Sheriff's Office announced.
Around 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, The Sheriff's Office asked residents who lived between Steele and Kleck roads, as well as homes between State Route 87 and Fast Track Road, to evacuate, according to a post on X, formerly known as Twitter. Residents west of SR 87 to La Palma Road and the Randolph community were asked to shelter in place.
Sheriff's Office officials said residents in the area should stay indoors, close their windows, turn off air conditioning and bring pets indoors.

The post said the evacuation was due to a hazardous material release situation, but did not include details about the incident.
The Coolidge City Council Chambers were opened for evacuated residents.
