Helicopter crashes in Herriman during ‘autorotation’ training exercise

HERRIMAN, Utah (ABC4) — A helicopter crashed in Herriman on Saturday, according to Unified Fire Authority.

The helicopter reportedly crashed during a training flight for autorotation — a maneuver in which the main rotor of a helicopter is driven only by aerodynamic forces, or air movement, with no power from the engine.

During the exercise, the helicopter experienced mechanical issues, resulting in an emergency landing, officials said.
