No charges anticipated after 5-year-old boy pulled from water in Harvest dies

HARVEST, Ala. (WHNT) – The Madison County Sheriff’s Office says they don’t anticipate any criminal charges after a missing 5-year-old boy was pulled from a body of water and died Sunday night.

According to HEMSI spokesperson Don Webster, the incident happened at 100 Logan Berry Lane in Harvest after 8:30 p.m. He told News 19 that the Harvest Volunteer Fire and Rescue was searching for the boy before finding him in a body of water.

Madison County Coroner Tyler Berryhill said the boy was taken to Huntsville Hospital for Women and Children where he was later pronounced dead.

Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Brent Patterson said charges aren’t expected in connection to the incident, and it appears to be an accident and a “terrible tragedy.”

The coroner says the investigation is ongoing and an autopsy has been ordered.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this most difficult time,” Patterson said.

He added that they will know more once the autopsy results come back, but they don’t expect the results to tell them much more than they already know. The sheriff’s office said it will not be sharing any more details regarding the investigation at this time.
