Hidden camera disguised as key fob discovered at Charlotte car dealership

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A ‘peeping tom’ investigation is underway after a camera disguised as a key fob was found at a Charlotte car dealership.

The report was filed with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police on June 27, 2024. On-the-record details are sparse, but the report indicated that ‘camera/optical equipment’ was found at the Auto America dealership along East Independence Boulevard.

The device was reportedly found in a restroom.

Queen City News had the chance to speak with a possible victim in this case, who came to be aware of the incident in the last few days.

“I’ve not reached my angry point yet,” the person said, who wished to remain anonymous. “I’ve reached my point of ‘Oh, my god, I’m probably on that video’.”

CMPD said the case is currently an active investigation, but noted they are not looking for suspects in the case.

Queen City News has learned, however, that a death investigation involving a suicide may be tied to the ‘peeping tom’ case.
