High Point Police Department announces new online reporting system

HIGH POINT, N.C. (WGHP) — Community members no longer have to call 911 to report crimes and emergencies.

The High Point Police Department recently announced the launch of its Citizens Online Police Reporting System, allowing people to quickly generate a police report and help ensure officers can respond to priority calls.

According to a news release, more than 20 types of non-emergency crimes and requests for assistance can be reported online including:

  • Fraud

  • Harassment

  • Shoplifting (Not in custody)

  • Theft from car

  • Theft of property

  • Trespassing

  • Vandalism

  • Vehicle hit and run (No injuries, minor damage)

The community can also use the system to request special checks, to request a ride-along with an officer or to leave compliments for officers.

Starting Monday, calls to HPPD’s non-emergency line that meet the criteria for online reporting will be redirected to the online system.

HPPD says anyone experiencing an emergency should still call 911.
