Highs will soar through Tuesday. Here's where to cool off in Rochester

With highs expected to soar into the upper 80s on Monday and Tuesday, Rochester officials announced it will conduct a Cool Sweep for the day.

Sunday marked Rochester's sixth day of the year that reached or surpassed 90 degrees, according to Weather Service records. The hottest day of 2024 to date was June 18, the second day of the four-day heat wave in Rochester last month. The high was 94 degrees.

The National Weather Service in Buffalo issued a heat advisory for parts of the Rochester region and central New York through 8 p.m. Tuesday. Rochester and western New York were not within that warning zone, but highs are still expected to reach the upper 80s - with a heat index in the low to mid-90s - both days.
