Hiker rescued in Grass Valley after falling 80 feet on Wolf Creek Trail, firefighters say

A hiker was rescued after an 80-foot tumble down a steep hill Tuesday morning on a trail in the Grass Valley area.

The incident occurred on Wolf Creek Trail when the hiker lost footing and plummeted into dense berry bushes lining the creek bed, making it impossible to climb back up, according to the Grass Valley Fire Department, which responded along with firefighters from Nevada City.

Rescue efforts quickly mobilized with firefighters, working with several other agencies, creating “a rope system to get the hiker back up to the trail.”

The hiker suffered minor injuries and was transported to a hospital to be evaluated.
