Pedestrian dies after hit and run crash on East California Ave.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A woman was struck and killed by a hit and run driver on East California Sunday night and the driver remains at large, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officers said the woman was walking south across westbound lanes of California Avenue when an unknown vehicle, traveling westbound, struck the pedestrian outside of a marked crosswalk around 11:17 p.m.

The vehicle struck the pedestrian between the first and second lanes of westbound California Ave. and fled the scene, officials said.

The woman was taken to Kern Medical where she later died. CHP officers did not release a description of the vehicle as of Monday afternoon.

CHP officers are still investigating if alcohol or drugs were a factors in the crash.
