Hot, dry weather to return to Wichita Falls following early week rains

Wichita Falls and North Texas got a good drenching Sunday night prior to heading into a week forecast to bring hot dry weather more typical of July.

Late Sunday, the city officially received 2.33 inches of rain as thunderstorms moved across the region. That brought the total for 2024 to 24.93 inches, which is about 10 inches more than usual by this time of year.

After rain chances through Monday, no more precipitation was in the forecast for the week ahead as daytime high temperatures gradually climb to 100 degrees by Sunday.

After possible rain on Monday, the Wichita Falls area is forecasted to return to hot, dry weather.

Hurricane Beryl made landfall south of Houston early Monday, bringing flooding to Galveston and leaving hundreds of thousands of Texans without power.

Although the remnants of hurricanes can sometimes be felt as far as West Texas, forecasters think Beryl will sweep north across East Texas and likely will not affect the Wichita Falls area.
