Hot grease left on stove leads to Longview house fire, officials say

LONGVIEW, Texas (KETK) – The Longview Fire Department said that a Longview home caught on fire Sunday and the cause is believe to be related to hot grease left on the kitchen stove.

Firefighters responded to reports of a structure fire at a home on Miami Drive at around 7:15 p.m. When Longview firefighters arrived on scene they reportedly saw white smoke coming out of the home’s front door.

The fire was designated as a working fire and crews began to attack the fire. The fire was contained to the kitchen and was quickly extinguished.

According to Longview Fire Department, the cause of the fire was accidental and “associated with hot grease left on the stove.”

No injuries were reported from the fire but five residents have been displaced and they are being assisted by the American Red Cross.

Longview Fire Department had three fire engines, two ladder trucks, one ambulance, four support vehicles and 21 workers at the scene.
