HPD makes big drug bust

HENDERSON — The Henderson Police Department served a narcotics search warrant on July 11 at a residence on Rockspring Street.

During the service of the warrant, approximately 300 dosage units of heroin, drug manufacturing equipment, cocaine, two firearms and $5,241 were seized.

James Kearney Jr., 35, Elijah Smith, 25, Jaquell Marrow, 27, Juwan Terry, 30, and Stephen Ragland, 55, were arrested in relation to this investigation.

Kearney was charged with two counts of trafficking heroin, one count of possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver heroin and cocaine, one count of maintaining a dwelling place for a controlled substance, one count of possession of drug paraphernalia, not marijuana and one count of resisting, delaying or obstructing an officer.

Smith was charged with two counts of trafficking heroin, one count of possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver heroin and cocaine, one count of possession of drug paraphernalia, not marijuana, one count of firearm by felon and one count of resisting, delaying or obstructing an officer.

Marrow was charged with two counts of trafficking heroin, one count of possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver heroin and cocaine, one count of possession of drug paraphernalia, not marijuana, one count of firearm by felon and one count of resisting, delaying or obstructing an officer.

Terry was charged with five counts of communicating threats and two counts of resisting, delaying or obstructing an officer.

Ragland was charged with two counts of trafficking heroin, one count of possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver heroin and cocaine, and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia, not marijuana.

Kearney, Smith, Marrow, Terry and Ragland received no bond from Magistrate Williams and were remanded to the Vance County Detention Center until their next court date.
