Human remains found in home of missing St. Petersburg woman Kelli Fisher

Two weeks after a St. Petersburg woman disappeared, police reported on Wednesday that human remains had been discovered in her home.

St. Petersburg police reported that the remains were found in the house at 1720 Prescott St. S., where Kelli Fisher, 42, had been staying. They were discovered during a follow-up investigation to a kitchen fire that occurred Sunday. The house as well as the property neighboring it are both owned by Fisher’s aunt, Jennette Smith, property records show.

Police and the Pinellas-Pasco County Medical Examiner’s Office are investigating, but had not yet identified the person or determined a cause of death as of Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Fisher was last seen on the morning of July 16 leaving the house in her aunt’s car. She was reported missing the following day and has not contacted family members or her boyfriend since, according to police.

The car was discovered two days later, abandoned in an empty lot on the 800 block of 28th Avenue South. The driver’s side door of the car was open, and police found items inside that did not appear to belong to Fisher, including three cellphones and some cash on the dashboard.

According to her family, Fisher has anxiety and depression, but has never disappeared without contacting anyone before. Investigators said anyone with information can contact them at 727-893-7780.
