What time will Hurricane Helene, a Category 2 storm, make landfall in Florida on Thursday, Sept. 26?

Most schools, colleges and universities in Florida closed for Hurricane Helene through Friday, Sept. 27.
Experts predict Helene will presumably hit land in the Big Bend area of Florida (near Tallahassee and Florida State University for a generic reference point), according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami. More information suggests landfall may be near Apalachicola, Florida, between 9 and 11 p.m., according to AccuWeather.

Yes, Hurricane Helene will impact Florida. Parts of the state already were experiencing rain, thunderstorms and flash flooding hours ahead of landfall. Many counties were under tornado watches.
Expect life-threatening storm surge and damaging hurricane-force winds along the coast of the Panhandle and Florida's Gulf Coast.
Don't focus on the center of the storm. It's extremely large, which means impacts will be felt hundreds of miles away, especially on the north and east sides.
