Ijaz Ahmed named Pakistan's batting consultant for Zimbabwe tour

Lahore, August 12(ANI): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has named former captain and fielding coach Ijaz Ahmed as the national side's batting consultant for the upcoming tour of Zimbabwe. Ijaz's inclusion in the management party comes as a surprise after Aqib Javed was overlooked for the tour, while Shahid Aslam also got the axe, The Express Tribune reports. Ijaz was part of the coaching panel in England, and was seen spending a long time in the nets with the youngsters that the team was relying on during the series against Australia and the hosts. Meanwhile, Sultan Rana, Director Cricket Operations Domestic, is leaving his current assignment in PCB to join Asian Cricket Council as Manager Events and Operations. He will relinquish his charge in the PCB by mid-September. Zakir Khan will assume the responsibilities of Domestic Cricket Operations, while Intikhab Alam will take charge of Director Cricket Operations International, in addition to his current duties as Director Game Development.
