Infant severely injured in ‘life-threatening’ Bridge City dog attack

BRIDGE CITY, La. (WGNO) — A 4-month-old infant was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after being attacked by a dog on Sunday, June 23.

According to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the 200 block of 10th Street in Bridge City around 12:40 p.m. Upon arrival, the deputies found that a 4-month-old boy had been attacked by a family member’s dog while sitting in a baby carrier.

When the carrier was placed on the floor, the dog reportedly attacked the child and was pulled away by a family member. The victim was then taken to a local hospital for treatment of severe lacerations and a fractured skull, which police say are potentially life-threatening.

JPSO deputies said animal control officers seized the dog, a two-year-old American Bully.
