Intruder whacked with homeowner’s frying pan gave police fake name, is 12-time felon
CHICAGO — A 12-time convicted felon on parole appears to have given police a fake name when he was arrested last week after breaking into a home and coming face-to-face with a homeowner armed with a cast iron frying pan, records indicate.
The man arrested provided the name of Brandon Williams, arrest and detention order documents show. But fingerprinting confirmed him one day after his arrest outside a Logan Square home to be a man on parole through the Illinois Department of Corrections, the arrest report says.
The news organization CWB Chicago reported the suspect’s name is Bradley Willenborg. IDOC records show a man with that name and matching the provided booking photo is on parole for burglary, was released in March, and has a record that includes convictions for possession of a stolen vehicle, forgery, theft, burglary and drug possession in six Illinois counties dating back to 2014.
The accused was taken into custody on Thursday after police were called by the homeowner’s security company. The homeower, Jason Williams, rushed to his home on the 3400 block of West Parker Avenue after receiving a notification and encountered the intruder, fending him off with a frying pan.
“He seemed as startled as I was when we ran into each other downstairs, and once he got hit with the frying pan, he was super stunned,” the homeowner told WGN.
The suspect is charged with residential burglary, violation of parole and aggravated battery. The arrest report says he spit on a nurse while at a hospital for evaluation.
Cook County Judge Susanna Ortiz ordered him held until trial.
