Iowa GOP business-friendly reputation at odds with hemp law

Republicans in Iowa got everything they wanted in this legislative session.

They’ve been on a roll since taking control of both branches of the legislature and the governor’s mansion a few years ago.

A lot of that action is very business friendly – certainly when it comes to taxes.

One business group isn’t happy. That’s the hemp industry and businesses that sell CBD products.

Host Jim Niedelman returns with former Rock Island County Republican Party Chair Bill Bloom and Democratic political consultant Porter McNeil.

“I think the motive behind it is protecting our kids from something that could potentially lead them on to other, more exciting experiments,” Bloom said.

“The revenue – the local and state profits for Iowa businesses that could be achieved and realized – are great,” McNeil said.
