ITV's 'Isolation Stories' drama series to feature heavily pregnant Sheridan Smith

Sheridan Smith will star in an instalment of ITV's new Isolation Stories, a series consisting of four standalone dramas commissioned by the broadcaster in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

It comes as the actor is currently heavily pregnant with her first child as she’s expecting a son with husband Jamie Horn.

Other stars set to feature in the 15 minute dramas depicting tales from lockdown include Robert Glenister, Tom Glenister, Darren Boyd, Angela Griffin, David Threlfall, Eddie Marsan and his sons Blue and Bodie.

Smith said of the new project: “I am heavily pregnant and have been isolating at home so I jumped at the chance to make a drama about the massive drama going on all around us right now.

"I think it's really important to try and reflect what's happening to us whilst it is still actually happening.”

Her story will see the Cilla star play 'Mel', a pregnant woman who is isolating alone as the married father of her baby has chosen to stay with his own family.

It's a family affair for some of the features as Robert Glenister stars alongside son Tom for episode 'Ron and Russell' while Eddie Marsan will be joined by his sons Blue and Bodie for 'Karen'.

ITV have shared the four dramas will be filmed observing the "strict rules" of lockdown as the families film the scenes themselves as directors watch and deliver direction remotely from their mobile phones.

The dramas are being produced by Matthew Bird, Ken Horn, Menzies Kennedy and Tom Dunbar as Jeff Pope serves as executive producer.
