Update: Truck spills peat moss soil in Hackensack highway crash

A jackknifed tractor trailer closed lanes at a Route 80 ramp in Hackensack Wednesday morning near the Route 17 merge, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation.

The crash was reported at about 5:30 a.m. on Route 80 east. The local eastbound lanes were closed near exit 65 for Green Street, per the DOT. The lanes were reopened by late Wednesday morning.

Firefighters arrived on the scene to find the trailer on its side, with its load of peat moss soil spilled across the shoulder, according to the Hackensack Fire Department. No injuries were reported.

Firefighters remained on site to assist with unloading the trailer.

The New Jersey State Police are currently investigating the incident.
