Jackson police on 7-month-old kidnapped, two murder victims fatally shot in 72 hours

Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade provided updates during a Monday press conference at the Jackson Police Department headquarters on three recent crime incidents, one involving the kidnapping of a 7-month-old child and others, including two homicides in the city of Jackson.

On Saturday, July 6, Jackson police began searching for a 7-month-old girl who was kidnapped while she was in a vehicle that was stolen from the 500 block of Beasley Road.

Wade said the child was left in the vehicle that was running outside of a Shell Gas station on Beasley Road near I-55 north. The vehicle was then taken from the specified location.

According to Wade, the unidentified suspect abandoned the vehicle at Brent's Drugs in the Fondren neighborhood. Wade said he assumes that the perpetrator either realized that a child was on the back seat or the perpetrator made it "to his destination."

Wade provided identification of a suspect alleged to be involved saying, "the suspect in this case appears to be an older white male or a light-skin older Black male."
