Jake's Restaurant, Brookfield steakhouse, faces a foreclosure, owes $74,000 in sales tax

A Brookfield steakhouse that's been open for decades is facing a $1.2 million foreclosure and owes more than $74,000 in sales taxes, leaving its future unclear.

Open since 1960, Jake's Restaurant at 21445 Gumina Road is owned by Jake Replogle Jr. and is temporarily closed, according to its Facebook page.

But the business had its license revoked by the Department of Revenue June 13 and owes $74,674 in sales taxes, according to the department's Delinquent Taxpayers search tool.

The property now faces a foreclosure sale Aug. 14, rescheduled from its original sale date of Wednesday, July 10, according to the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department.

The sale by public auction was ordered by a foreclosure judgement of $1,226,925 dated April 8, according to a notice of foreclosure from the department dated May 9.

Replogle could not be reached for comment.

Employees told TMJ4 in June that their paychecks bounced and were given little information on the state of business.
