JD Vance Faces Backlash For 'Childless Sociopaths' Remark

Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) is learning a hard lesson the hard way: Live by the hot take, die by the hot take.
Things haven’t been smooth for Donald Trump’spick for vice president since he got the nomination as past criticisms he’s made about childless Americans have come to light.
Referring to Americans without children as “childless cat ladies” is bad enough, but Vance’s attempt to win the hearts and minds of people beyond the MAGA bubble got worse Tuesday.
That’s because CNN revealed that Vance has previously called Democratic leaders “childless sociopaths” who “don’t have a direct stake in this country.”
Although a Vance spokesperson told CNN that the senator was only “talking about politicians on the left who support policies that are explicitly anti-child and anti-family,” it doesn’t appear as if that excuse is resonating on social media.
Instead, it appears as if “childless sociopaths” could affect Vance and the Trump campaign in a similarly negative way that referring to Trump supporters as a “basket of deplorables” hurt Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign.
HuffPost reached out to both the Vance and Trump campaigns for comment on the video, but no one immediately responded.
However, people on X, formerly Twitter, had thoughts.
Serious question: Is he okay?

Going after candidates is okay, but you don’t go after voters.

I don't think calling childless voters sociopaths is good politics.
Big weird energy. https://t.co/YXJCSRvhHv— Ryan Johnson (@Ryan_Johnson) July 30, 2024
you can't really punish us childless sociopaths any more than society already does by making us attend infinite baby showers https://t.co/Jrt34msItc

I'm one of those childless Americans JD Vance can't stand. Wasn't my plan, but I'm still grateful for a fulfilled life, a community I love and a family I adore. For him to say that I am a sociopath or mentally unstable just because I don't have children is wrong.

But stop calling him weird. https://t.co/kpwhaYz4KD

J.D. Vance didn’t have his first kid until he was 33.
Nothing wrong with that obviously, but I find it a tad hypocritical that a guy walking around calling other adults “childless sociopaths,” didn’t start having kids of his own much earlier. https://t.co/izsjNirv58— Steven Cenname 🥥🌴 (@StevenCenname) July 30, 2024
