Amid growing calls to step down as the Democratic presidential nominee, President Joe Biden has scheduled his second televised interview following a disastrous debate performance last month.

NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt will interview Biden as the president continues to insist that he should continue his campaign against former President Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee.

Many in his own party have urged Biden to step down following his debate performance against Trump, where he stumbled over words and corrected himself with numbers. Biden's team initially attributed his raspy voice to a cold, but also blamed jet lag from recent travels overseas for his poor performance on stage.

In a letter to congressional Democrats on Monday, Biden stressed that he is the only person who has beaten Trump before, and that he believes that he’s the only candidate who can defeat him again.

Biden, 81, said Tuesday that he is committed to serving his full second four-year term if elected.
