Joplin police report early-morning stabbing outside Watered Gardens

Jun. 14—A 42-year-old man was stabbed in the chest at 4:07 a.m. Friday outside of Watered Gardens, 531 S. Kentucky Ave. in Joplin, according to the Joplin Police Department.

Officers arrived on scene and located the victim, providing medical aid until EMS arrived. He was transported to Mercy Hospital Joplin for further treatment. According to JPD, his injuries are considered to be non-life threatening at this time.

The police said the victim was intoxicated and a disturbance had taken place between him and another adult male.

That person was not on scene when officers arrived and has not yet been located. He is described as a white male, dark hair, wearing a red shirt and blue jeans with tattoos on his arms. Anyone with information is asked to contact JPD at 417-623-3131.

The police statement said this appears to be an isolated incident between these two people and it does not believe there is an active threat or danger to the public at this time.
