OSHKOSH – No garbage or recycling collection will be done in the city of Oshkosh on July 4.

Collections will be a day later, so collection will be July 5 and 6. Regular collection resumes July 8.

The yard waste drop-off on West Third Avenue also will be closed for the Independence Day holiday. It will reopen July 5.

Oshkosh library hosts play, adult DIY craft

Upcoming programs at the Oshkosh Public Library include a play and an adult DIY. The library is at 106 Washington Ave.

CLIMB Theater will present “Country Mouse, City Mouse: Adventures in the Suburbs” at 2 p.m. July 2. For more about the CLIMB program, visit climb.org.

This month’s Adult DIY will be Wooden Fruit Coasters. The class will begin at 6 p.m. July 9.

Winnebago County Fair awarded grant for improvements

Compeer Financial’s Fund for Rural America, the Farm Credit cooperative’s giving program, is supporting county fairs with grants to improve facilities and experiences in the Upper Midwest.

Locally, the Winnebago County Fair Association is one of 61 fairs that received a grant. Funds will be used to add electrical outlets and replace barn fans.

Since the program was established in 2018, the fund has awarded 422 grants for a total of more than $1.4 million.
