Even after President Joe Biden pulled out of the 2024 presidential race and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris, some readers say they still want to see Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear at the top of the Democratic ticket.

If Hillary couldn't win, Kamala can't either. We need Beshear.

I don’t think Kamala Harris has a chance of winning. In 2016 an unpopular white woman lost to Donald Trump. So why would an unpopular Black woman win against him now? The country is more racist and conservative than eight years ago. A lot of disillusioned non-MAGA Republicans and right-leaning Independents won’t vote for her. This country is just not ready for a Black woman president. Which is why we need someone who can get elected, why we need Andy Beshear.

Andy Beshear’s success in a deeply red state like Kentucky indicates he could have a broad appeal with key voter groups in other battleground states like Ohio and Pennsylvania.

Under his leadership, Kentucky has become a national leader in job growth and has record budget surpluses. He has a unique perspective on how Democrats can win in challenging states. He has a track record of bringing people together to get really big things done and improve people's lives.

He's seen the state through several major disasters, including the COVID-19 pandemic, tornadoes in Western Kentucky and floods in Eastern Kentucky.

He brings people together, something our country is sorely in need of. I think Andy Beshear would be a great candidate for president on the Democrat ticket, and the Democratic Party should embrace him — he deserves a chance.—Elaina Moreno, Sonoma, Calif.

Our country would thrive with Beshear as president

I believe Andy should be our next president. He's done so much for Kentucky. Health insurance and jobs and allot of things to help Kentucky. I think our country would thrive with him as our president. Not only would he be looking out for his fellow Kentuckians he would be looking out for all of America. He would have my vote.

Let Beshear take a run at Trump

I think Andy Beshear is a great governor and running for higher political office would be a righteous decision. It definitely 100% would be a very smart move on his behalf to run for political office. Also, not only would he make a well-respected vice president, but an even better President of the United States. I think Harris should stay where she is as vice president and instead let Andy Beshear take a run at Trump this year instead!
