Kamala Harris to headline SF fundraiser this weekend

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Hot on the heels of announcing her running mate this week, Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris is returning to the place where she launched her political career. Vice President Harris will headline a fundraiser in San Francisco on Sunday.

An online invitation for the event posted by Harris’ fundraising committee, the Harris Victory Fund, offered few details beyond the date, this Sunday, Aug. 11. The time for the event is yet-to-be announced.

An address for the event will be provided upon RSVPing, according to the invitation. The cost of admission ranges from $3,300 up to $500,000.

Trump says San Francisco was the ‘best city in our country’ 20 years ago

This weekend’s fundraiser follows Tuesday’s announcement and rollout of her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz. The Harris campaign has been working on a truncated timeline since President Joe Biden dropped his reelection bid last month.

Harris, a Bay Area native who began her political career when she was elected to San Francisco District Attorney, has been climbing in the polls. She now leads former President Donald Trump in several national polls and has closed the gap, or overhauled Trump, in some swing state polls.

It is not clear if Harris’ running mate Gov. Walz will also be present at the San Francisco fundraiser. Walz recently gave an interview where he described visiting San Francisco for the first time, calling it “the most beautiful city” he had even been in.
