KCPD releases identity of missing woman found dead in Lee’s Summit

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A woman who was reported missing last month in Jackson County was found dead, Kansas City police said.

According to KCPD, 23-year-old Alyssa McMurry was found dead in Lee’s Summit, Missouri on May 17 after her family filed a missing persons report four days earlier.

After she was found, investigators waited until medical examiners confirmed her identity. Police then updated the public on Tuesday afternoon.

In the initial missing persons report, McMurry was last seen on May 13 at 8 a.m. on the 4100 block of Tracy Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri.

According to KCPD, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department is leading the death investigation. No cause of death has been revealed.
