Kern County firefighters rescue dog in Borel Fire

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A dog is receiving treatment after firefighters rescued it in the Borel Fire.

Officials with the Kern County Fire Department say the dog was rescued near the Breckenridge station when firefighters saw the dog running across the road to get away from the fire.

Fire officials say the dog’s paw appeared to be burned. The dog stayed in the fire engine while firefighters continued to fight the fire.

The dog, who has been given the name “Walker,” is being treated at Kern County Animal Services.

A firefighter has offered to foster the dog when he is off duty.
